Genentech's Holly Springs plant reaches structural topping out
Genentech says the final steel beam is in place at its new Holly Springs, North Carolina manufacturing facility. The roughly $2 billion project is being built for metabolic medicines and is designed around automation, robotics, and digital-twin technology.
The company expects the project to support more than 500 manufacturing jobs and more than 1,500 construction jobs. It names future work across operations, maintenance, engineering, laboratories, and warehouses.
Why it matters
Topping out is a visible construction milestone, not a promise that every projected role is open today. It does, however, make the future skill mix more concrete: process engineering, controls, validation, maintenance, quality, and technical operations will matter as the site moves from construction toward commissioning.
Personalized mRNA oncology clears a pivotal test
Merck and Moderna reported positive topline results from INTerpath-001 in resected melanoma. Intismeran autogene plus Keytruda met the recurrence-free-survival primary endpoint and the distant-metastasis-free-survival secondary endpoint versus Keytruda alone.
The companies reported no new safety signals and said overall-survival follow-up continues in the 1,137-patient study. The result supports continued attention to individualized oncology, biomarker, clinical, and regulatory capabilities; it is not a direct hiring announcement.
Network Bio starts with $50 million and a tissue-data thesis
Network Bio launched with $50 million in financing and an AI platform built around multimodal patient-tissue data assembled through academic-biobank relationships. The company describes the dataset as the largest of its kind.

Tolerance Bio adds a clinical-stage IL-7 program
Tolerance Bio licensed efineptakin alfa in the Americas and Europe from NeoImmuneTech. The long-acting IL-7 therapy has been evaluated in more than 800 people across 15 studies, and Tolerance Bio says it plans Phase 2 work.
Career signal: Moving from a preclinical platform into clinical execution can raise the importance of clinical operations, regulatory, and CMC work. The release does not announce broad hiring.
